COMMUNITY BASED PROBATION SECRETARY

 

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking to fill the position of Community Based Probation Secretary.  The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to typing correspondence; transcribing a variety of documents; answering incoming telephone calls and directs to appropriate party for disposition; maintaining records and files; preparing reports. Types and files confidential and non-confidential correspondence, reports and memorandum. Transcribes a variety of documents, correspondence, reports and memorandum from dictation; handwritten or computer generated drafts and recorded material.  Complies and keeps records; maintains data as needed and directed; Excel, MS Word, etc.  Receives and records payments for court costs, fines, restitutions, etc.; forwards funds received to appropriate authority.  Prepares new case files and runs VCIN/NCIC/DMV on all new cases.  Applicants must possess a High School Diploma/GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and conservable office assistance experience. Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques; comprehensive knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; ability to operate personal computer and appropriate software packages; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to operate a Dictaphone; ability to communicate ideas effectively orally and in writing; skill in the operation of standard office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, inmates, defendants and the general public. 

 

Applicants must be 21 years of age and must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one.  Applicants will be required to submit to a criminal history background, DMV check, polygraph examination and drug test.  A completed jail application is required.  CLOSING DATE:  DECEMBER 20, 2016

Property Clerk

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Property Clerk.  Performs responsible clerical work ensuring the proper custody and disposition of inmate personal property.  Essential functions include the receiving and storing of inmate personal property; issuing institutional clothes; preparing and maintaining property records and files; preparing necessary paperwork to release inmate property; processing inventories and returned jail property; exchanging clothing for court appearances; preparing standard issued totes; processing inmate request forms, incoming mail and telephone requests as well as performing related tasks as required. Destruction of Property, Inventory.  High School diploma or GED.  General knowledge of record keeping methods and techniques; thorough knowledge of rules and regulations governing the custody and safekeeping of inmate and jail property; ability to establish and follow routine schedules; skills in the operation of standard office and data entry equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with inmates and associates.  Applicant must be 21 years of age, must possess a valid VA driver’s license or the ability to acquire one.  Applicant will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation, drug test and polygraph.  Completed Jail application required.

Maintenance Technician

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking to fill the position of Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, minor modifications and construction work relating to electrical, painting, carpentry and plumbing for the entire facility. Interested applicants should be in possession of a High School diploma or GED and an equivalent combination of education and/or two (2) years experience in HVAC, plumbing, boilers and electrical. Should be knowledgeable in all phases of building maintenance. Must have the ability to communicate with a variety of people, work independently and able to think and act quickly in emergency situations. Applicants must be 21 years of age and must posses a valid VA driver’s license. All applicants must successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug test and polygraph examination.

 

 

Full-Time LPN

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking an energetic, positive and self-motivated LPN to work with our team of diverse professionals providing health care to incarcerated individuals. Duties include, but are not limited to: Performing medical evaluations; assisting physicians; vein puncture; collecting medical data; preparing and maintaining files and records; preparing and dispensing medications. This position requires 12 hour rotating shifts. Must have a valid LPN state license. Applicants must be 21 years of age, have HS Diploma/GED and a valid Virginia Driver’s License. Applicant must pass a criminal background, DMV check and polygraph examination. Completed Jail application required.  

 

 

 

Full-Time Registered Nurse

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking an energetic, positive and self-motivated RN to work with our team of diverse professionals providing health care to incarcerated individuals. Duties include, but are not limited to: Performing medical evaluations; assisting physicians; vein puncture; collecting medical data; preparing and maintaining files and records; preparing and dispensing medications. Correctional Officer

The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking a career-oriented individual who enjoys working with people, personal challenges and the opportunity for advancement.  This position monitors and ensures the safety, welfare and supervision of the inmates.  Duties include, but are not limited to: Enforcing rules and regulations in a firm, but fair manner; responding to emergency situations; the ability to prepare and maintain clear and concise logs and reports.  Offers flexible rotating shifts that will allow for quality family time.  Only serious applicants who wish to contribute to the safety and security of our community should apply.  Candidates must be adaptable and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
